When high school junior Natalie – or Dr. Aphrodite, as she calls herself when writing the relationship column for her school paper – is accused of knowing nothing about guys and giving girls bad relationship advice, she decides to investigate what guys really think and want. But the guys in her class won’t give her straight or serious answers. The only solution? Disguising herself as a guy and spending a week at Underwood Academy, the private all-boy boarding school in town. There she learns a lot about guys and girls in ways she never expected – especially when she falls for her dreamy roommate, Emilio. How can she show him she likes him without blowing her cover?
When I read Babe In Boyland’s plot synopsis I was already kind of expecting that the plot would be (but not entirely) similar with a movie (She’s The Man) and with Hisaya Nakajo’s Hanazakari no Kimitachie (Japanese manga) that I also loved. But Jody Gehrman put her own story and humor on this hilarious book!!
In my opinion, what really makes Babe In Boyland stands out was having a protagonist like Natalie. She’s got a very engaging and fresh voice. She’s also smart, confident and downright witty! I just loved her from start to finish. Her quest on understanding boys for the sake her friends and readers was really hilarious and fascinating. Her two best friends, Darcy and Chloe, were also very adorable plus, their relationship was really awesome. The three of them complements each other’s personality. I also enjoyed the sweet and cute moments of Natalie and her roommate, Emilio.
I have SO many favorite scenes in this book. So many laughed out loud moments. (Like really laughed out loud!) One of my favorite scenes was the one on the closet! Every time I remember that one I still can’t help but laugh!
Overall, I loved this Babe In Boyland! It’s something I’ll never get tired of reading. I’m giving this 4 out of 5 stars and I highly recommend this to all girls who are curious on what boys really like and also to those who wants a good read with highly entertaining plot.
